How to paint stripes in my child’s bedroom?

Fun_murals_rayasPainting stripes is a very time consuming technique, and it requires more time taping than painting, but once the work is done, you can see it was worth the effort.

The first thing you need to do, is to measure the wall. Then you have to decide how wide you want your stripes, divide this number, from the total length of your wall and try to find a number, close enough to it, so all your stripes can fit in the space.

You don’t want to have all your stripes 12 inches wide and the last one in the corner only 2 or 3 inches wide. If you are combining different widths, and you cannot find an exact number, try to leave the thinner stripe in a corner behind or close to a door or a window.

Then you need to mark all your points in the wall, and start taping. Make sure your masking tape is new, so it will have all its adhesion power. You need to push the tape inch by inch against the wall surface using a wooden stick, to make sure the paint will not bleed through it. Specially if you are painting horizontal stripes.

Wait a few hours after your final coat before removing the tape, and wait at least 24 hours, before you tape over the new painted surface. Paint always the lighter colors first.
